If you currently live in a neighborhood with a security division, make sure they’re aware of your upcoming move. You may get contacted on moving day about suspicious activity outside your home, which could waste valuable time.
If you have a home security system installed, you’ll also need to contact your home security company to have it properly turned off, removed, and installed in your new home. Some home security companies may charge extra for this service or they may not allow you to move your existing equipment to your new home at all. Discuss with your representative what costs are associated with moving your equipment or what discounts they can offer on your new system.
