Meals while moving can seem like a chore more than anything, but staying well energized during your move is crucial to being efficient and keeping yours (and your family’s) spirits high! Check out our MoveEasy easy moving meal recommendations to make your moving meal-plan stress free!
The first meal of the day! You will want to be sure your family eats a good breakfast to help prepare for the moving day ahead! Keep your breakfast prep low maintenance as the start of the day will be busy, or grab something the night prior to keep the morning open.
We Recommend: Dry, non refrigerated items (as your fridge may not be hooked up yet if you are moving your own) such as,
- Granola Bars (check out this recipe for No Bake Granola Bars that you can prep prior to moving day.)
- Breakfast Pastries (check out your new local bakery on Yelp to help kick off living in your new home!)
- Assorted Fruit
Lunchtime is a great excuse to take a break while moving, and helps regain some of that energy spent in the morning. Packing a cooler for lunch is a great option in case your appliances aren’t up and running once you reach your new home, and offers more variety in your meal! Some great lunch options on moving day are,
- Veggies, Crackers and Hummus (be sure to chop your veggies prior to moving day)
- Deli Sandwiches/Wraps and Chips
- Smoothies (Check out this recipe for some great smoothie staples) or yogurt
- Cheese and Crackers
- Assorted nuts and fruits
Don’t forget to bring your water bottles to stay hydrated throughout the day, and be sure to pack some Tupperware or paper plates as your dishes will likely still be packed away!
Don’t forget to pack a few snacks for throughout the day. These should be easy to pack and grab while you’re traveling from point A to point B, or unpacking at your new home! Some great snack options for moving day are,
- Nuts (think almonds, or peanuts)
- Pre-popped popcorn
- Dried fruit
Dinner often proves to be one of the more difficult meals to plan for during your move. Crock pot meals are a great option while moving, as you can simply travel with your crock pot and plug it in at your new destination! Some great crock pot dinners include,
- Chicken Pot Pie/Chicken and Stuffing (check out this quick and easy recipe.
- Crock Pot Lasagna
- Slow Cooker Chili
Soup is another great option to make and reheat in your new space! Try out your favorite chicken noodle soup recipe, or try a new tortilla soup Pinterest recipe like the one here.
Again be sure to pack some paper plates/bowls and plastic cutlery in case your dishes aren’t unpacked yet! If you want to take a break cooking for the day, check out apps like Postmates, GrubHub or DoorDash for easy meal delivery from your favorite take out restaurant!
